Venice is connected to the mainland by the Ponte della Libertà, a one kilometre-long bridge spanning across the water. It ends at Piazzale Roma, a large circular square with bus and coach stations and two car parks, Autorimessa Comunale, tel 041/272 7301 and Garage San Marco, tel 041/523 2213, both expensive and extremely busy. It is advisable to arrive early in the morning to avoid long queues. Illegally parked cars will get a ticket, clamped or removed almost instantly. There is another car park at Tronchetto, Tronchetto Parking, tel 041/520 7555, especially useful for passengers heading to Lido. For queries on Italian motorways, check their official web site. From Piazzale Roma onwards, all journeys are either on foot or by water vehicles. On your arrival at Piazzale Roma, we can arrange for your transportation to your hotel or apartment; our local escort will meet you by your car, take you to a reserved water taxi and accompany you to your destination in Venice. The cost is €100 - for up to 6 people - to anywhere in the city. |
